Jackie,
I've feed my pigeons chicken layer pellets or crumbles for many years, they seem to do well on them. Alot of people use a dog food bowl for a nest bowl, pigeon supply houses have nest bowls made of paper, for nest material, I use pine needlesand cedar shavings, that keeps the lice at bay. For a waterer, I cut a 3 inch hole on two sides of a gallon plastic milk jug, when I drink another gallon of milk they get a new waterer. two very important loft things is ventilation and dryness, and no drafts.
good luck Bob
