I moved my almost 6 week old orpington chicks out of the brooder to our chicken tractor yesterday. Temps are in the 80's in the day6, but getting down to the 40's at night. They are feathered in - are they going to be OK with these night time temps? Next Monday is supposed to be in the 30's at night - do I need to worry about it?

Yes, how about that weather forecast? Not what I wanted to see at the front end of September, for sure.

I have chicks the same age, but they've been living outside from day-one, so they are acclimated to not having heat at night already from age four weeks. As long as your chicks are exposed to the cold with no heat during the gradually cooling nights preceding next week's weather surprise, they will do just fine. Just be sure they aren't exposed to any chilly drafts.
