No Eyes???

Is it happen often when a chick doesn't have any eyes?

We had one; it looked like his eyes were healed shut. All he did was keep his beak pointed up. He wouldn't eat or drink, so he died.

But that was the first time that ever happened. Anyone else have this same thing happen?

Every once in a while, the eyelids will be stuck shut when they hatch. I've heard that you can moisten the lids with water or saline solution, and gently open them. I don't know if that was the problem with your chick, but it's one possibility.
