I have a Smokey Pearl hen who is laying eggs with no shells. I had posted concerns a couple of months ago when her comb and wattle suddenly turned from pink to dark grey. I was not sure who was laying these but I saw her do it on Friday! I have 7 layers and their eggs are fine, i have thought about mixing some all flock in because the shells are so hard. I feed Nutrena health wise layer feed. I do not know if she does this all the time or occasionally, but she did it Friday and again today from the roosting bar, it appears she usually does this from the roosting bar. I have found them at least two other times. I cannot afford a vet even if I could find one around here to treat birds. Any help is appreciated.

Hey just a question..how old is she? And what is she? I have production leghorns. As production breeds get older sometimes they have issues My leghorns will be three in March 2023. I recently had a whole shell less egg and I'm nuts about calcium myself. But she was older for production breeds I guess and of course she is in molt. I'm sure she will pep up with her oyster shell. Limestone is cheap too. Just make sure it's limestone and not lime.

She is a Smokey Pearl, got her as a chick from TSC in March. She has dropped them 3 times from the roost, the one I have pictures of they had been out free ranging, and she stopped suddenly. All the other girls were already in the run so I went to check on her. She semi squated and out it came and she ran for the run. Since no other hens have an issue, and their eggs are rock hard I did not think to give her more calcium.
