Had a RIR that seemed a little off. She was free ranging and fuzzed up like a broody, but lethargic. I walked her down and picked her up (unusual) when I grabbed her a rubber egg popped out. Calmed her down and cradled her under my arm…. And another one came out and broke on my shoe.

2 eggs. I banded her leg and gave her about a teaspoon of the white oyster shell pebbles.

First bout of ever having an egg bound hen. What else should I look for?

Did she seem to feel a bit better after the second egg?

Oyster shell should be available free choice, but it does take time to process.

I would give her Extra Calcium in tablet form daily for at least a week. You can find Calcium Citrate with D3 in the vitamin aisle of stores like Walmart, CVS, etc. Give 1 tablet daily, just pull down on her wattles, pop the tablet into the beak and let her swallow.

She was last in the coop. Crop stuffed to the max.

I have both crushed shell and the little white stone looking pieces available free choice. I will keep an eye on her.

Thank you for the information
