yep im new, and ignorant, but that aside, I have 7 hens, in a 10x10 coop, with a small hutch inside the run and an additional 6x4 coop, , the small hutch is 2x3, and instead of roosting, and laying in the made boxes they prefer to huddle at night in the small hutch, only 1 egg in the last month has been laid in the bigger house. should i remove the small hutch so they go into the big house, and get them used to it , leave alone, or what Thanks

Could you share pictures? What do your roosts look like? How high? Materials?

They would probably be safer (from predators) at night, in the big coop.

Thats the hutch the 7 insist on staying in here is a pic off to the side of the run where i would think they would roost and sleep

only thing I can think of is the bigger house is lower than the smaller hutch, there is a roosting bar and a nesting box that they want nothing to do with, that ould rather pile on each other

Chickens will generally seek out the highest roost.
