Im wondering what you would consider odd but useful.

Im considering odd as in egg color, looks.
Useful as in can take care of themselves, broody, good layers, good meat birds.

I would like something worth feeding and yet nice & different to look at as well.

See, even the name is odd.

I like naked necks, they're definately odd, and they are good layers. I like naked neck RIR- crosses even better.

This is Fugly, a RIR-Naked Neck cross roo that we handed over to a friend for breeding.

my all around fav. chcikens is prob the wyandotte. great layer, friendly, pretty broody, and come in many different varieties.

but as far as odd, id say polish silkie cochin and EEs are my fav. so far

salmon faverolles are odd...more in behavior than looks. Mine are just nutso compared to the rest of the flock. They will be pecking at the ground or walking in some direction, then all of a sudden turn 90 degrees (or even completely around) and run a few feet, before go back to what they were doing. They are chatty, social, sweet, great layers, have feathered feet, beards and muffs...and completely crazy in the head. Even the roo is just as nutty as his hens.
