Odd Egg- any ideas?

It’s midsummer here in Australia, it was usually cool until last week- 65F when it’s usually minimum 77F. Yesterday temperatures were back to normal for Christmas 89F. This came today. What is going on?

Do you know which hen laid it? It would help to know so you can keep an eye on her eggs for a while.

Once in a while, a hen may have a stressful moment, and this can throw off the egg cycle. Stress is one of the many causes of odd eggs. Most of them are so infrequent, it's nothing to worry about. But sometimes, if the odd eggs are consistently odd, a virus or bacterial infection may be behind them.
