Do you order that package all the time? When I get my dual purpose package they are chosen from:
RIR, Colombian rock, red rock cross, red Sussex and brown leghorn.
Green egg looked mostly green, but could be blue tinged and the brown honestly looked. Brown. Hard to get a pic. But here’s what they look likeWhat was the result?
Rose comb is a Dominant trait, & the single comb is recessive. Two single comb breeds bred together always produce single combed offspring. Rose comb X Single produces rose.True, I guess that’s what popped out.
Nobody looked like that as a chick, or adult. But maybe a throw back to an escaped rooster? I always get pullets. And again, this is a jump from brown to green egg laying.Maybe this got put in accidentally

I see black Sex-links, RIRs, Polish, & the Red Sussex in the pictures.
You can put food dye in the hens vents(Different colors) to figure out who's laying. Some people go around the vent skin(outside) with lipstick to figure out who's laying also.Nobody looked like that as a chick, or adult. But maybe a throw back to an escaped rooster? I’m trying to sleuth out who’s laying it. But it’s so hard! 40 chickens and timing has to be perfect. I’ve asked them but nobody’s fessing up.
I know, just matching what I see.https://www.rochesterhatchery.com/Poultry/dualpurposebreeds/RROCK
The "Red Rock Cross" is another name for Black Sexlink
Are you able to split them into smaller groups?I’m trying to sleuth out who’s laying it. But it’s so hard! 40 chickens and timing has to be perfect. I’ve asked them but nobody’s fessing up.
That would be very hard unfortunately. But now I’m determined to figure it out. It’s such a great mystery! Are you able to split them into smaller groups?
Just dividing the flock in half, then waiting until you get another egg like that, would rule out half of them pretty quickly.
