One chicken started laying=rest dont sleep in coop

So, lasr night they were back in the coop again. The only other guess i have is that i changed their bedding and added straw and i guess they didnt like that because they couldnt cover their poop as well. I used sand in the summer and they prefer that i think. Yesterday i removed all the straw except from the nesting boxes and put in wood shavings since thats what i had and they were back in at night and tonight as well. Case solved!
