One of my hens was killed and another badly hurt by a couple of the neighbor's two dogs on New Years day. The injured hen was the 'alfa' hen or whatever you would call the top hen. Until that time the flock was a friendly and calm group with contention happening only when pizza(their most favored treat) was around. Since the attack, the flock was under new management. A very visible pecking order is now in place with the dominate ones eating first and punishment to any offenders. The injured hen went from the top to the very bottom of the pecking order and might makes right is the current order of the day. Yesterday I saw the hurt hen had reclaimed some of her statis. She is working her way back up the order. She is now 3rd from the top and I hope she works her way to the top. If she does then maybe the flock will go back to it's orderly and calm state. I have decided to name her Boudicca after the female warrior that defied Rome in it's conquest of england.

She will regain power again! I'm sorry for your loss
