one side of face is swollen

First time I have seen this.....
One side of my hens face is swollen. Other side is perfectly normal. It's been like that for a couple days. Her poo is runny, but normal color. Shes a little slower, but still scratching around and hanging with the flock. She seems to have lost a little weight, so maybe it hurts her to eat??
other notes ... she eats layer pellets, we live in Central Florida so nice weather in 70s. They range during the day, and have coop for the night time.

Any idea what it is, and what I can do to help her?

I suppose since it is only one side of the face it is probably not a respiratory infection. A few months back I ran across another thread mentioning a similar problem. Possible causes that were proposed were an abscess, a blocked duct or a tumor. Or perhaps it is just an irritated eye? You could try irrigating the eye with saline solution.

ya, my first fear was respiratory problems... but other side never swelled.... washing with saline worth a shot, ill try that. Thanks.
