She is super happy, and I think she's actually decided that I'm her mate. She definitely seems to do behaviors for me that look like courtship and mating behaviors. Yep, she does. She also does a trembly head bobbing dance while talking to me in an alluring ducky voice. Apparently I am a very acceptable duck mate
She certainly thinks so! I don't know how to break it to her that I'm a girl, too, but I don't think she cares much

So exciting, and what an egg!!!!So after lots of uncertainty about our rescue, River, she laid her first egg this morning!My daughters were freaking out excited, and River is so proud of herself she was just talking and talking about it. When I picked up her egg, she got more excited and more vocal, and wanted to look at it and peck at it. Not sure if she was trying to check it out to see if it was ok, or if she was trying to eat it, because she does love to eat hard boiled eggs
