Pecking Order

Is it common for a broody to have to regain her place in the pecking order?

If she raised her chicks separately from the flock, yes.

She is still sitting on the nest in the coop with the rest of my flock. Whenever she gets off to come out and eat, a red sex link challenges her. It's usually a pretty good squabble with one or the other walking away with a beak full of feathers. She is holding her own but I think the sex link sees it as a opportunity to move up. Sound right?
