Hey Flock! I'm curious on the penecilin dosage for a EE hen, she prolapse this winter, and got what seems like a fungal infection, and I was told on here to treat with penecilin. I have the penecilin, needle, and syringe, but I'm not sure on dosage, and how many times to administer... I'm actually pretty nervous about giving her a shot, because I'm pretty scared of needles myself! Thanks in advance! The brand is Bactracilin G. @casportpony ?

Sorry about pic quaility, I took them with my tablet.

Do you have a bathroom scale? If so, weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding her. The difference in the two numbers is her weight.
oh, Thanks! I hope the scale is accurate enough! I'll have to do it tonight, I can't catch her :p.... Just for reference, she is a light hen, anly weighing a bit more than my polish pullets.

I have not used penicillin, but if I were going to I would give it based on the doses mentioned in two of my books.

That says to give one shot every two days and that amount is 0.15 ml per pound of body weight.

This one says basically the same thing, but says it can be given daily.
