The chicks have had access to the main coop for at least a week now. They have been behind a gate next to the roost for a month. The hens go in and out throughout the day to lay their eggs. The chicks don't run screaming, and the hens don't care that the chicks are around. There are 18, five week old chicks, a pair of ducks, five hens and a rooster. I can't see a reason to keep the wall up separating the chicks from the adults. Can anyone?

Sounds like it is time to let them mix...take down the barrier and let them work it out.
