I`m from NE PA. I just hatched 31 quail for the 1st time.

That is awesome! I think I’m the only other person with quail in this thread. I’m at four girls at POL (point of lay), and a total of ten boys. Not all in the same pen! Many are about to be processed.

Welcome from cambria County! Quail are such goofy little things. I had them for a while. Their little personalities always made me laugh.

Just chattering. Ignore if you are skimming.
I’m thinking the RSL is going to go the way of (what I think is) the typical RSL. She’s only a year-old, but she’s never actually been normal. Most of her eggs are wrinkled, and more than half are double or triple yolks. She stopped laying earliest last autumn, and I have not gotten an egg in two days. Now, none of that spells doom, but combined, I’m thinking she won’t see next spring.
I think I have enough girls though.

I have never had a lot of longevity luck with sex links, they are good for eggs for a while but are the most likely (in my experience) to begin failing early and have reproductive tumors found when butchered.
