I haven't yet gotten bored with vanilla Minecraft. Plus I get scared that the mods would corrupt my worlds and/or make my computer violently explode in a cloud of plastic vapors.

Those are Bukkit commands, aren't they? I'm pretty sure you need to use /spawnpoint and /kill in vanilla.

I've decided I really don't like HD (32x32 or greater) textures much. They always seem to clash horribly with the cubes that make up the rest of the game, plus they make my computer wheeze desperately for breath as it struggles to keep up. Give me a nice 8x8 texture any day!

The funny side effect of low resolution textures is that they make everything seem smaller. I'm pretty sure it's just an optical illusion, but it's a really convincing one.
