Hello,

I posted a few of my chicks a while back and some of you helped me ID the breed and gender. Now that the rest have grown up a bit I would really appreciate help identifying the breed and confirming the gender. The pictures are of those birds that could be female however I think 2 or 3 of them could be cockerels. I numbered the pictures and put a bit of info/best guesses on them. I am about 90% sure pictures 1-3 and 5-9 are labeled correctly as far as breed. Pictures 10 and 11 could be labeled incorrectly. They could be brown leghorn mutts that got mixed up in the movement from brooder to coop. I have attached a picture of what my husband purchased in order to give you ideas of what breeds they could be. Thank you all in advance.

Also anybody wanna take a guess as to what gender these Embden geese are? I’m thinking 2 males 1 female because one is noticeably smaller than the others. When approached it does not hiss and approach the way the others do but ruffles its feathers and walks away or positions itself behind others. All my Toulouse females are laying but this one does not. The geese will all be 1 yr old by the end of this month.

Hello,

All my Toulouse females are laying but this one does not. The geese will all be 1 yr old by the end of this month.

2 looks like it could be a cockerel to me, if it's a mix. 5 and 7 are likely cockerels but not 100%, especially on 5. 8 and 9 are definitely cockerels.

It's difficult to say what the breeds are because all of them look a little off to me. 10 and 11 look like American game hens to me, but they could be Icelandics. 13, 14 and 16 may well be Icelandics. They are definitely not Legbars. 15 may be a Legbar mix or just not a good quality one as it has no crest and the colors are much too pale. 12 could be a birchin Marans if the bottoms of its feet are white or pinkish, or a birchin Cochin if the bottoms of its feet are yellow. I can't help with the geese. Maybe Miss Lydia can help if you post in the waterfowl section. If not, you may have to wait and watch to see who lays and who does what when they mate.

Hi, thanks for the help! # 1-3 and 5-9 I am 90% sure are my mutts. #4 is an Ayam Cemani my husband purchased from Foxfire farms. I know this 100% because of the color of its skin and mucous membranes (even though the coloring everywhere else is terrible). Every other chick is confusing the life out of me because they just don’t fit the standard as far as I can tell but I am terrible at determining breed and not all that great at sexing. I knew 17 of my other chicks were cockerels which is why I did not include pictures but was not 100% sure with some of my mutts.
