post your chicken coop pictures here!

Thank all who replied and commented on my chicken swing. I have listened to everyone and have decided to tweak the design a little. When this is accomplished, I will make the plea again, and see what y'all think. Again. Thank y'all!!

We bought a house that already had a big framed shed in the backyard. We added insulation and siding to the inside. We put up a pallet fence and we started putting up hardware cloth over the top but changed our minds to just bird netting. This project cost us about $900 and many many weekends. The painted coop is 95% complete in the picture. We have added a gate since.

I'm not really sure where to post this question, so I'm starting here... is there a special place where you can get the 1/4" by 48" by 100' hardware cloth? And what Guage do you get?

Its all pretty much the same gauge if you go to the local hardware store. Though you may be able to order heavier

Dixiline, Ace, Lowes, and Home Depot come to mind... Most likely Tractor supply has it... They may not carry it in the store but if you go to the Pro Desk they will bring it in for you. No shipping charges.

There are other places on line you can get it ...

http://www.wireclothman.com/shop.php?cPath=41 dont gasp theirs is 16 gauge

amazon hundred foot 19 gauge is 161.00 free shipping

the following is what I have on hand for my next build

http://www.louispage.com/galvanized-after-welded-wire-mesh-12-12-gauge

same company has hardware cloth

1/2 by 48 by 100 feet at 19 gauge is down about the middle of the sheet

http://www.louispage.com/welded-wire-mesh/galvanized-after/galvanized-after-weld-19-gauge

The heavier the gauge the more expensive

so the smaller the number the heavier the gauge... It works like this

16 gauge is determined by dividing one inch by 16 the wire diameter theoretically should be .063
19 gauge is 1/19 or .053 diameter
12 gauge is 1/12 or .083 diameter.

you want GAW or Galvanized After Welding... better weather resistance.

you probably already know about gauges and stuff... but some people here may not... so I tend to do overkill..

Oh good that gives me places to start... because we're going with the 1/4" the 23 Guage is as strong as the 19 Guage .... Home DEPO doesn't have the 100' lengths... they have it in 5'...wwe need much more than that... so it looks like I'll be ordering it... Home Depot is out of stock on line! Can you believe that? Okay, thank you...

I got mine from a local doitbest hardware franchise 1/4"x 48"x100 for $139.00. They ordered for me, within 2 days it's in. Go to a doitbest.com site type in your zip code on store locator. Will show you the nearest to your home. They won't charge for shipping.

Update:
We have the walls up on coop and the door done, as well as cut hole for them to go up ramp into coop from below, we have netting up but not finished attaching and trimming ends yet. We also have most of railing on viewing deck nearly finished. The coop interior and cleanup as well as painting and trim to beautify left. Also need to add windows and wire in openings near roof apex to allow air flow but keep out predators.
