Psst...didn't bother putting myself on list but you all know where to find me.

Cyprus turned me onto using the variety/breed code to search the NPIP database by state for a particular variety. It's brilliant. Meticulous as sorting rice to weight but works well. I cull what are obviously hatcheries, more than 7 varieties and then look at what's left and if they have sexlinks cull them too. What's left is a short list of potential breeders. As in they likely are breeders and have good stock and have contacts for others with good stock.

Here is the NPIP codes:
http://www.poultryimprovement.org/documents/StockCodesAlphabetical12-19-2018.pdf

Find the poultry and variety you're looking for (use google find to locate your variety/breed) ensure it's the standard or bantam code then use that stock code in google find as you look state by state on NPIP database:

http://www.poultryimprovement.org/statesContent.cfm

Example: I open the stock code list, use Google Find to locate "Silver Pencilled Plymouth Rock". Source code is r91 for large fowl. Open the NPIP database by state, click a state then use google find with R91 to see all those with that bird. Weed out and narrow to potential people who are breeding and have breeder stock.

If you searched Vermont you'd find me with only that variety R91, nothing else. It's likely I breed them;) And if you searched Maine you'd fine Robert Murphy. If you don't already know him by name you'd see he has quite a few breeds. Every bantam with Silver Pencilled pattern and then the LF Silver Rocks. Yeah, he's a breeder.

Luckily I’m in Alabama! So glad I found this. I’ve never been one to just have one breed, but silver penciled rocks have really caught my eye. Giving these guys a try as soon as I move properties and can set up breeding pens. Thanks for posting this!
