Power Outage During Incubation

I JUST started a hatch of BCM//BBS Friday evening. Late this afternoon we had a power outage lasting about 5 hours. Will this effect the hatch? They were in the incubator for about 16 hours when the power went out.

It’s probably not a problem at all. Many of us have experienced more of an outage than that without a problem, either with an incubator or a broody hen when she goes back to her nest.

Another thing you have in your favor is that it was early in the incubation. The embryo is pretty tough the first few days when just starting out. It’s not the ideal conditions but I seriously doubt it was fatal.

You can try candling in about a week to make sure they are developing, but I would not worry too much.
