Pullet shut automatic door questions

Just received my automatic opening door was wondering if anyone has had any problems with them. I was wondering if I should build a little roof or over hang to keep the opening mechanism from direct exposure to the elements. Rain, ice etc... Thanks everyone

Also does anyone use the solar panel to charge the battery? How has that worked for you any issues, would you recommend that or the trickle charger.

We love our pullet shut auto door! We have a solid roof on our run so our door is protected from the weather. We have the solar panel and have not had any problems with it. It's been working great for about a year now(knocking on wood).
