Being totally new to the "chicken game" and, admittedly naive, we purchase 8 pullets at our local tractor supply store but didn't realize that "pullet" is not a breed! Now we have 8 chicks that were yellow when we bought them but are now almost 3 weeks old and are different shades of brown, tan and white. Can anyone help me with what breed of chicks we actually purchased????? Thanks so much and so far, I love this site!

We're so glad you joined our community!

It's hard to tell without pictures, but perhaps regular Red Stars or more specialized ISA Browns?

LOL.... well, we live and learn. You have to start somewhere and we were all new at this at one point. BUT...you have come to the right place for all the fun and learning!

Get some pictures of your birds and you can post them in our What Breed and Gender section here on BYC for help with sexes and breeds... https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Enjoy your new babies and welcome to our flock!
