Put eggs in on march 9th is that day 1?

I put the eggs in my incubator on March 9th around 4pm. Would I count March 9th as day 1 and then lock down will be tomorrow March 26th?
Or, do I say March 10th was day 1 and March 27th will be day 18 and lockdown day and stop turning then? Thanks my first time hatching my own so exciting

Day 1 starts 24 hours after you set the eggs, so March 10th would have been day 1, and tomorrow will be day 18.

The day you start is day 0, the next day is day 1.
It's easy if you start on a 10th or 20th of the month, that's day 0 and you just count further, 20 day 0, 21 day 1, 22 day 2, etc.

In 2024, March 9 is a Saturday. If you are talking about chicken eggs the 21 days of development will be up on Saturday March 30. With it being the same day of the week (Saturday) it is pretty easy to check your counting. So yes, you wait 24 hours to say "1" so the 18 days for lockdown falls on the 27th.

As you probably know the 21 days to hatch is just a target. For many different reasons it is not that unusual for eggs to hatch a full 2 days early or late. So lockdown after 18 days and you should be ready no matter what happens.
