Quail and Ecoglow

It takes energy to change the state of water from liquid to vapor....convection will remove the vapor, but it doesn't provide the energy for the phase change. The purpose of panting is to create convection to decrease the water saturation of the air near the membranes, but the water vapor results in heat loss. Check any book on physiological ecology and they'll talk about it.

Sorry to open an old thread..

I have both types of EcoGlows. I am using the 20. I added some paper towel to raise them up and made a paper towel ramp... They seem very content and are going back under it easily. I made sure there are no gaps they can get stuck in, but figure something in front of it restricting space the first 24 hours may be a good idea... I keep checking and they are finding their way back, but being new to quail I'm nervous... I don't want them to chill.

Very interesting.
Are the reptile red glass heat bulbs the same as a bird heat lamp? some dont mention birds on label...
