They cut down a huge willow tree a few weeks ago out side my house and there was a female wood duck nesting. I have 7 of the 11 eggs. I was tempted to buy an incubator but did not. They have been under a lamp on my desk for 2.5 weeks and one of the eggs are peeping now!

I believe it started today but could have been yesterday. Continuous peeping... do I need to break the shell open to help it? I see some mentioning about pipping? None of the others are peeping. I want to make sure this one survives. I have a wild life rehab place to bring it to once hatched.

Any recommendations on how to let this duck make it out alive?
Let it be for another day?

Thank You,

Heather

I would give it another day. Hopefully it makes a small hole in the shell tomarrow. You can help it if its having trouble getting out but other than that I'd let the duckling do it itself. If you do help it just be careful were you pull, sometimes the egg shells can stick to the duckling.
