I have a quirky broody hen, this will be her 4th group to raise ( which for 1st time includes 2 of her eggs)
Anyway, she came in the cat door and laid a clutch in bed room and started sitting ( thankfully this room is closed off, in the winter is is so the outside cats can come in or sick animals..concrete floor ( acid stained/sealed) anyway i traded eggs out , moved her outside right after hatch. Her next clutch old tire that is one used for nesting box but she hid them inside the tire, not the center ( 4 tires stacked packed with a piece of wood under top with straw pushed into tire then they lay in the middle. Found them she had actually stolen eggs from the sebright & mille fleur d'uccle, she hatched and raised 6 ( 1 went in incubator for 2 days it was a late bloomer it was an easter egger x sebright egg)
Now she is sitting on a clutch of eggs, some hers, some not, in a teapot..yep tried to move her into a box, she rolled them back ( she had been laying in the pot..shes smart, she rolled it on its side. So she is a goofy girl, tiny too. Cicely,my spangled oegb
I included a picture of where she sleeps when not broody or raising young, if you leave the porch light on too long she goes to windows and screams until you turn it off..somehow she knows we control the "sun"
I also included a picture of her last group..
