Rabbit mites, how to diagnose and treat??? Balding and danduff on ear

My friends pet rabbit suddenly started loosing fur on her ear and has clumps of dandruff. We suspect it could be Walking Dandruff or fur mites.
Will oil work to cure it? Other natural cures?

No, oil won't treat mites. Ivermectin, Revolution, or permethrin is what's used in my area.

Probably not what you are looking for, but I would use Revolution which is labeled for use in rabbits.
It contains Selamectin, which is supposed to be a bit nicer for the animal.

Yes I have cured naturally by drenching the ears in melted coconut oil, it smothers the mites and crustiness is gone in a couple days

We have used mineral oil, and like the poster above me it smothers the mites and is harmless to your rabbit. We had a rescue case with one of my pet buns and he had bad mites, and we used mineral oil and it work great.
