Rain and chicks...what do I do??? Please help!

It's raining pretty hard here this morning and my chicks are still in their coop (which is to small and we are working on making a new bigger one). They are about 6-8 weeks old and have been free ranging in our back yard for about 2 weeks. Yesterday they put themselves to bed for the first time! Anyways, I need to leave this morning, what should I do with them? Are they ok to get wet? (It's in the high 60s low 70s right now, but will be in the high 70s later and they have their heater in the coop) any advice will be welcomed as I'm brand new to chickens. Thanks!

You can open the door. They will probably stay in though. They might go out for a bit but come back in if it pours. My chickens don't mind the rain at all. Don't worry.

Also I'd say they are old enough that they don't need heat anymore. Are they feathered?

I agree with @littlejohnacres open the door to the run and let them choose. Some will come out while others will stay in. Most of mine won't come out in the rain.

Yea, they're half grown at this point. They shouldn't need heat and they can decide well enough for themselves if they want to get wet or not.
