Rainbow Chickens

It's a Heinz 57 LF breed. I know someone who used to raise them. Rainbows each look different and lay different colored eggs. What they have in common is that they are good dual purpose birds, (i.e. - They are both good egg layers and good meat birds.)

Now a Heinz 57 I recognize.......

Oh! So it's not an actual breed then?! Interesting! Well we have plenty of Heinz 57 dogs at home so why not chickens!

They've been around for a few years, I forget which hatchery right off. Same as the Pioneers, or probably similar to the Sagittas . Not a breed, but a mix the individual hatchery has concocted to be an alternative meat bird. Some folks have held hens over and they've been decent enough layers, but the roosters tend to be too big for breeding and aggressive breeders, from what I've read here.

maybe check out the meat bird section and do a search, I think there are several threads there about them.
