Hello! This lovely chicken is almost two months old and I am having a difficult time telling if it is a hen or a rooster. I am brand new to owning the Rainbow breed and when we purchased the chick they said that we could end up with either. Has anyone had any experience with this breed? She is growing quickly which I read is common for rainbows. However her comb is really developed for two months and it is red already. I haven't checked her feathers yet to see if they are rounded or come to a point. I've heard roosters feathers come to a point. Any insight anyone has would be incredibly helpful. I am hopeful that she is in fact a hen because Roosters are not allowed in our county

Thank you in advance!

I'd say due to the development of the comb it is most likely a rooster. Within a few more weeks you'll likely know for sure though. :)

That's a cockerel. That much comb and redness at this age is male.

Your bird is pretty young to have the pointed sex feathers, but they'll come. Usually around 12 weeks is when they start developing.
