Rarest breed of chicken in the US?

Blue hen of delaware, even better if its completely pure and not crossed with andalusion (this was done to improve the blue coloration, pure ones have a sort of yellowish coloring in there saddle/hackle feathers)

Icelandics! There are only about 3000 worldwide! There is a thread on here about them. Really pretty birds, they come in many colors. Many, many thanks to 'The Warden' for her gift of eggs that we were able to hatch some of these beauties!


Its currently an attempt to build the population back up, the story is amazing. You might have some luck getting eggs or chicks if you PM The Warden.

Hmm well from what i understand there are only two breeders in the entire usa with bantam marans.... I would kill someone for bantam marans.

For instance Large Fowl, "Non-Production" Single Comb Rhode Island Reds I think during January and February you might be able to count 200 adult birds and during the summer there might be a thousand in the U.S. That is very rare.

Rose Comb, "Non-Production" Rhode Island Reds only about 50 birds in the U.S. during the winter months. That is Extremely Rare.
