Raw, red, rear end

I got this hen by a lady who says her rear end has been like this for a couple of months. What can it be and what can I do for her?

Looks like feather picking. You can't really do much, just make sure she doesn't get picked on more. Giving her high protein foods like meat, fish, and eggs will help her out.

It's due to urates in feces scalding her skin causing redness, irritation and inflammation.
Apply Nu-Stock to the area as needed and wear disposable gloves. Make sure you shake the tube well. The Nu-Stock will heal it in time, and new feathers and fluff will eventually regrow. Nu-Stock can be found in the Equine section at a feed store. It will deter any picking as well.
