Oh, it's a wine label! I was wondering who the heck Rex Goliath was and waiting for someone to post so I could figure it out. Guess I could have googled it, but I was just going to wait, LOL. My BR cockerel is named Rex. No Goliath here, though.
Made a decent marinade for chicken which is what I bought it for.
http://www.rexgoliath.com/AboutRex/index.htm At the turn of the 20th century, HRM (His Royal Majesty) Rex Goliath was the treasured attraction of a Texas circus. People came from far and wide to behold the 47 lb. bird, billed as the Worlds Largest Rooster. Our label replicates the one-of-a-kind vintage artwork from the circus banner that hung above Rexs roost, and we proudly honor Rex with our premium varietal wines.
No idea as to whether the bird really existed or not. A quicky search only turned up hits about the winery and a band by the same name.
Yep, I like the Chardonnay best. I don't eat chicken, but I have used it a lot in cooking, not bad for drinking, either.
Cyn, I hadn't realized you had a Rex. I got the wine at the local Piggly Wiggly. The label has a pic of a HUGE roo, that's what caught my eye, of course! That, and the fact that it was on sale at the time
Come to think of it, I do believe I've seen that wine label somewhere. Yes, Sally, my young up and coming BR boy was named Rex after my late Uncle Rex. He's just 10 weeks so he's not exactly BYC-famous yet, LOL.
However, I am famous, apparently. They did call me "old", to which I object strenuously:
There is also a Speckled Hen quilt shop in Oregon, from which I have lapel pins and a T-shirt, courtesy of eggchel and terrielacy.
Hey out there. What;'s the max on a roos weight anyhow? I went to a small county fair today and saw some humongous roosters! 20 pounds or more. (I know they would kill my little 4-5 pound hens.) Put two fingers together and that is how wide their legs were. I used to laugh when people talked about being afaid of a rooster, not with these bubbas, be very afaid!! Anyone have any idea? beverly
I had a Black Jersey Giant rooster (just over a year old) that weighed 18 pounds. Sadly he died suddenly and unexplainably and we do miss him. He was quite sweet and good with his hens. Not sure about that 42 pound rooster...I used to get the RG Pink Moscato and now I can't. Bummer, loved that flavor of wine.
