Hello,
I was sure one of my hens was dead when I could not find her yesterday- feathers were everywhere. I found her hiding today with gashes on her back and in rough shape.

She has about three cuts, one is especially deep and you can see flesh. None look infected and she seems otherwise in ok health. (eating/drinking ok)

I have cleaned her wounds best I could with water and gave her about .5 mL of unflavored pedialite. She is in quarantine now with fresh wood shavings and food/water (with ACV added).

Is there anything else I can do to help her healing?
I will provide pictures if it would be helpful.
Thank you! I'm just so happy she's not dead!

Welcome to BYC and Thank goodness you found her.
She’s likely in shock.

Pictures would definitely be helpful.

Let me begin by saying that Chickens can heal from terrible wounds! So have heart!

Don’t be afraid the pluck feathers around the wound if you have to.
Really clean the wounds vigorously with soap and water or hibiclens or povidine if you have it or even saline in a squirt bottle.

Then apply an antibiotic ointment liberally in the wound bed.
*be sure not to use antibiotic ointment that contains “pain reliever”.

Keep her confined in a dim, quiet, warm room and entice her to eat and drink if you can.

Some more people will come along shortly with suggestions too.

You’re doing a great job, keep it up!
