So back in August I did a hatch. I wing sexed all my chicks as soon as they dried. I know this method isn’t 100% accurate. Well so far it seems to have been pretty accurate, my chicks were a staggered hatch as some were taken from a hidden nest under a shed that no chicken was sitting on and others were taken straight from the nesting boxes. So my chicks range in age from 8-10 weeks.

I recently separated my cockrels from my pullets because I will be raising them for meat. All but 1 are showing very clear signs of being cockrels. The one in question is a cross between a RIR roo and CW hen. He looks mostly like a CW with just a dusting of red in the feathers. The only hint it may be a male at the moment is the all white head common in sex-link CW. I’m curious to see if anyone has ever done this cross before? I would love to see comparisons! I have a pullet of the same mix who DOES have the black spots on her head and she also has a lot more red dusting in her feathers.
However neither have much of a comb forming yet and feathers are still hard to tell. From my pictures you can see him with my other cockrels who are all very obviously cockrels!
