Hi! I bought my first chickens this spring (two hens and one is a Salmon Faverolle). I was told this hen was a Rhode Island Red, but when she started laying we were surprised to find white eggs. Also I just noticed her white earlobes. Did I end up with some kind of mutt? Can anyone tell? Thanks!

Yours looks like a mix, probably with game and Rhode Island Red in the background. Rhode Island Reds are very heavy set birds, in fact, should be more heavy set than the one pictured. They should be brick-like. Here's one of my heritage ones showing the shape of the breed. (Odd background is due to her being trained for a research paper!)

Kinda looks like my BB Red Cubalaya
That's the vibe I got from her too. Her color variety is Black Tailed Red or maybe just called "Red" (not sure of the terminology) which as far as I know, does not exist in Cubalayas in the US. This bird also doesn't have a pea comb, so that's very unlikely. I do agree however that they look very similar!!
