Roo or Hens? Mixed chicks with silkie and standard size. All black. 5 weeks old.

So there are 4 and two look like the first picture, little comb coming up, and a little round. The other two have no comb what so ever. Any guesses? Breeds were possible mom buff Orpington, barred rock, and light brahma. Dad was a silken silkie.

That's because cockchicks take after their moms and henchicks take after their daddies. :]
Ok that's what I thought. But you said you think that first one is a roo but he doesn't have the barred coloring. Course just might not have gotten the gene. I had read that barred rock gene was passed to roos and not females in barred crosses? Or does that not happen every time.

Hmm, what color is the silkie?
 
Alrighty....so pic one male, pic 2 could go either way, and the two with no combs at all are probably females?
 
That's a really cool site though. We had a friend who took our eggs and got a chick that was yellow. All our eggs that hatched were black.
