Ruby’s Toe is Broken & Possible Ascites

Hi everyone. I know this thread is two years old, but I wanted to provide an update in case it helps others.

RUBY IS STILL WITH US! We have been treating her with hormones (and occasional antibiotics amd anti-inflsmmatories) for two years, and she responds well to her meds. Recently she swelled way up, despite a hormone implant, so the end may be nearing. The avian vet, assisted by ultrasound, recently drained over 500cc of fluid! Ruby has been up and down since, but as of tonight, is doing reasonably well. She’s quite the trooper! Here she is a little over a week ago:

Dear Ruby, as beautiful as the precious stone she is named after! Look at those feathers. No one would ever guess she has had more than her share of health issues.
