I just wanted to finally share some up-to-date pictures of my runners... yay!

This group of 4 fawn and whites are about 4 months old and absolutely the friendliest, sweetest things (they are the babies in my avatar, just all grown up now). They come running when they see me and follow me around the duck yard (got to watch out so as not to trip on them) and love to chat constantly at me. 2 males and 2 females.






Now this next group is 2 blues and 2 chocolates about 5 weeks old, all female. I got them from Metzer Farms. They are completely opposite of my older fawn and whites... ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED OF ME (I had to rely on zoom to get these photos). This is because I handled them much less than the first group which lived inside my house for 4 weeks and they come from our friends in town whose little girl held them a lot during their first days of life... where as these little ones only stayed with me for 1 week before I moved them out to the duck house. My SO thinks they were also effected from being sexed, rushed around and shipped for the first two days of their lives (couldn't say for sure though, and I'm not putting down hatcheries... these babies have been super healthy and I wouldn't have been able to get them without the hatchery... Metzer did a great job ensuring safe delivery and healthiness). Still love them, they'll come around soon I hope

I got my black, blue and chocolate runner girls from Metzers also. They were also handled less than my fawn and white. It's all about the frozen peas. The literally run to me now when the see me to see if I have goodies.

So the two "pekins" that I picked up at Tractor Supply that ended up being fawn and white runners are both boys. I quit on ducks! LOL!

I was so against getting ducks, then my 12 year old wanted ONE so bad. So we went down to TSC and they said " you much get two minimum. So we got them home and I was kind of upset about the whole thing. But we got them home and It was life changing!! I LOVE them so much, I never though they would take to us like they did. I love to sit and watch them and the crazy things they do. I'm so happy about and daughter conning me into taking a chance!!

LOL -- my ten year old grandson sits and watches the ducks "because it calms me" - I'm glad you are enjoying them. We've had ducks for about 5 years now and I love them more all the time.

The must get two thing isn't sales driven. Ducks are socially dependent. The have to have company or they stress big time.

In NY it's a minimum of 6. It's the law. Ducks need and want to be with others. They're very social animals. I've had people contact me for a single duckling and I just won't do, laws aside.
