That looks more like small gravel, which I don't think would be good on their feet.
Would any of these work? I keep trying to find river sand Bc that’s what I’ve seen suggested. But I can’t find any besides at Home Depot in bags. That I would have to buy TONS of. And they’re $5-6 a piece. Which adds up fast

Any rock that is round like pea gravel should work unltill it gets biger then an inch. Crushed rock products will be sharp. Products that consist of fines and larger pieces will compact into a hard surface.
So something like this? I can’t find river sand. I don’t think it’s crushed rock. To me it looks like pea gravel mixed w sand.

You can feel it and see if it has sharp edges. It might compact. I would try a small area and see before you get a load of it. If it compacts down it wont drain but its called dewatering aggregate so I'm taking that as a good sign!

I chose to use pea gravel in my duck run. So far no issues, but I supplement with stall mats as well for some optional coverage. My usual landscape place had pea gravel but it was course. Went to my backup and theirs was much smoother. 1 yard was under $50 which came out much cheaper than Home Depot. Google Maps 'Landscape Supply' or 'Bark' and call around. You might want to check out the product before you load up just to make sure.

Another option for sand; Craigslist. I find people have sandboxes for kids and get rid of it as they grow older. You more than likely will have to dig it yourself, but definitely saves money.

So would you think the concrete sand is better.....I dont know if that means its made of concrete or what....or the other sand?
