Sandblasting Sand?

Hello folks!,

We have the chance for some free sand for our run, but it is sandblasting sand. The guy says 95% of his blasting is bare metal. Last thing we want is contamination. Any thoughts or experiences?

Free doesn’t always equal a bargain.

AFAIK they don't use sand to blast with anymore they use coal slag... if it is sand it will be very sharp.

We still use silica sand to blast. I wouldn't use used blasting sand with your birds 30% of it is residue from blasting. It works great for filling holes in your yard and tilling into your garden to loosen up clay. What's the other 5% of what they are blasting, lead paint?
