Where could I find scrap wood to build a coop? Does Goodwill have anything that can be used for a brooder or a coop?

Thanks!

look on craig list, ask local contractors for scraped wood, look at HD and lowe's for culled lumber.

good luck.

Goodwill may have cheap playpens or some type of boxes or totes to make cheap brooders from... as for the scrap wood..try a local lumber yard...OR craigslist..they have everything!

Thank you for the quick replies!
Is the culled wood from Home Depot or Lowes a good price?
I will go look on craigslist some.

if there is some place you could get cheap or free pallets you could take them apart and use the wood!!

Does anyone know of any examples/pictures of a recycled chicken coop?

Construction sites are great for scrap wood. Dont be afraid to ask, most contractors have to pay to get it removed. So I would think they would happy to give some away. Also there is no shame in dumpster diving, people will throw anything out.

Contractors are a good place to start, but also check with factories if you have any near you. Most of the wood I've gotten for my coops has come from factories around here.
