I found a seagull in Culver City, California, along La Ballona Creek this morning.

I think that the bird might have trichomoniasis (canker).

Can anyone determine from the pictures whether it is canker?

Please call your local wildlife rehabilitator to get this bird properly treated.

Seagulls are protected by the Migratory Bird Act, which makes it a federal offense to keep eggs, chicks or adults of the species for any reason.

You can be fined or jailed for being in possession of any birds protected under the act without a permit.

Is there a bad odor from the beak? That is a sign of canker (trich.) Wet fowl pox, can also cause yellow plaques inside the beak and throat. Canker is very common in pigeons and some other birds. Metronidazole can be a treatment, but I think that contacting your local animal control would be best.
