Self inflicted spur injuries

Can you describe what you mean by twisting?
Soak the bird's feet in warm water for 15 minutes before using a pair of pliers to literally twist the outer casing of the spur back and forth until it comes off, this is just the way I was taught to do it, there are a lot of other ways on the internet

My rooster has been acting off. Yesterday evening I finally got hands on him . Both of his knee joints are wounded and infected looking. He has lost a lot of muscle. It looks to me like it is where he scraped himself with his own spurs. They are very long. Couldn't do anything for him but put him in isolation with water and food until I get back from the hospital. , my child is having a procedure today. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.
Please post photos of your rooster and his injuries.

I would not twist off spurs, if they need to be trimmed, then use a dremel with a cutoff wheel.
