I like the ones we have, gold red and black, They haven't started to lay yet, but it should be any time..they always seem happy to see us when we are in the coop..they all seem to get along well will everyone no in fighting..
I would rate them 8 out of 10.. JMPO
I have had Black Starts and currently have Golden Commets. They are hardy birds that lay consistently. I also have Produciton Reds from Ideal Poultry (not sex-link) but also very good layers of large to jumbo eggs.
Two of my chooks are Black Sex-Links. They lay very well and they are calm and gentle. Today the temperature is below freezing and they are running around without a care.
They are only slightly more shy than my Delawares but still come when called for treats.
One of my BSLs has laid four double-yolks in the last month.
I've made my own black sex links. They're a bit larger and heartier than the reds, and if you have to cull any of them, they're meatier than a Leghorn.
