Should I Be Concerned?

I've had my Silkie chick for almost three weeks now, so I've been taking him outside and letting him enjoy the sunlight and fresh air (since he lives in my house currently) for a little while. He doesn't really seem to like it, I'll set him down in the grass and he'll make a mad dash and try and stuff himself into my pant-leg.

So today I was sort of laying on my stomach so he could be close to me if he wanted, and he quieted and layed down next to my face. It was then that he started like... gagging, is the only way I can think of to describe it. He wasn't making any noise, and he didn't seem to be distressed, but it seemed like he was almost trying to hack something up.

I brought him back inside, and he's completely fine, not doing it anymore...

It was the first time I ever saw him do something like that, so I'm a little worried...

Is something wrong with him?

Was he eating any grass? They often stretch out their neck forward and open their mouth when they are trying to move stuff into and out of the crop.
