Should I get rid of my rooster?

I am researching right now how to get rid of my rooster. He is really aggressive and we have 2 small kids. The roosters days are numbered! But how will the other hens do? Can I take him away at any time during the day? I lost 2 chickens in one day! I'm not sure the roosters job!

A crockpot is a great way to deal with a mean rooster. With 2 small kids he needs to go. The best time to grab him is at night.

As long as you free range you stand the chance of losing birds, rooster or no. Not all predators come out at night, there are plenty during the day too and not all are satisfied with one bird.

If you have to get him during the day, use a fish net with a 3-4 foot handle. Or at night with a towel, off the roost. Mrs K
