should i let my chickens sleep on top of their coop?

so my girls are almost 10 weeks old and they are absolutely determined to sleep on top of their coop at night. when they were younger they would sleep inside but since they were about 6 weeks old, they want to sleep on top of the coop. i’ve tried putting them inside at night but the opening in the coop where the ramp is does not have a door to shut. any ideas?

Do they have roost bars inside the coop? Hard to see, looks like some low ones maybe?

no the coop is from a friend and isn’t super awesome. but they do have a big pole with perches outside their coop…

It looks to be a bit low, I know my girls like to be up high when they sleep. Have you tried putting them in there? You may want to show them where they should sleep at night. I had to show mine one night and then they got it on their own. And raise the roosts.

how would i raise them? i try putting them in but they just come back out

You may have to modify with new screws etc. raise at least half way up? Put a board over those nest boxes with a roost bar a few inches above that also.

i think the ceiling is too low roosts above the nesting boxes definitely won’t fit. i’m debating getting a new coop all together but that is super expensive
